Fentress Mugshots and Release Records
A mugshot is the photograph made during a booking process. An adult booking photograph kept by a Tennessee sheriff is generally a local government record subject to the Tennessee Public Records Act unless an exception, court order, sealing, or expungement applies. Public-record status does not require the sheriff to publish the image on a website, and it does not make the image evidence of guilt.
The booking episode matters. A Fentress County jail photograph should be tied to the booking number, booking date, identity details, and related release sheet. A TDOC offender photograph belongs to the state felony custody or supervision record and may have been made on a different date. A registry photograph reflects a separate legal registration duty. Mixing those images can create the wrong history for the right person.
Release also does not erase the booking record by itself. The current jail population and a historical booking are different data sets. Fentress County publishes no verified online roster or released-booking detail from which a photo retention period could be measured.
Find Fentress Released Inmate Photos
No single source covers every Fentress County released inmate mugshot. Choose the channel that matches the custody event. The sheriff is the source for a county booking, TDOC is the source for a state felony offender image, and the TBI registry is relevant only when a legal registration requirement applies. News and independent publishers can be leads, but they cannot prove release.
| Channel | Has a photo? | How to access |
|---|---|---|
| Fentress sheriff website | No verified online booking gallery | Use the official contact and records-request route |
| Sheriff mobile app | No dedicated Fentress app was verified | Do not assume a generic app carries county data |
| County booking-photo record | May exist for an identified adult booking | Ask the sheriff for the existing image and release sheet |
| TDOC FOIL | Official overview says results may include a photo | Search only for a person connected to TDOC felony custody or supervision |
| TBI registry | Photographs appear for covered registrants | Use only when the person is legally required to register |
| News or independent publisher | Sometimes | Treat as a lead and verify with the official custodian |
The result must be matched by more than a name. Use a booking number, TDOC ID, date of birth, case number, booking date, or other lawful identifier when available. A reused image can otherwise join two people who share a name.
Note: A prison photo and a county booking photo may show the same person at different times and belong to separate records.
Fentress Sheriff Posts No Gallery
The official Fentress County Sheriff’s Department page provides jail contacts and service information, but the reviewed page links no inmate search, recent-release feed, booking-photo gallery, or photo policy. The source screenshot below documents the official county access point and the absence of a linked release-photo tool.
The lack of an online image does not show that no photograph was taken. It means the records custodian must be asked whether an existing adult booking photograph is held and releasable.
Call 931-879-8142 or use the sheriff office at 140 Justice Center Drive, Jamestown. The lobby is published as open 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday, excluding federal holidays. Those are public lobby hours, not a promise of immediate record production. The county request form is the documented written fallback.
Request Fentress County Booking Photos
The strongest request identifies one existing booking and asks for both the image and its release context. Tennessee’s public-record framework does not require a custodian to create a new gallery, compare roster snapshots, or assemble a custom list that does not already exist. The request should therefore name the record rather than ask for a broad conclusion.
Use the Fentress County Public Records Request Form. It asks whether the requester is a Tennessee citizen, whether inspection or copies are sought, whether an advance estimate is waived up to a chosen ceiling, the desired delivery method, and a detailed description with the record type, date range, subject, and key words.
- Collect the full name, approximate booking date, and booking or case number when known.
- Request the existing adult booking photograph associated with that identified booking.
- Also request the booking and release sheet, including existing release date, type, authority, and receiving-agency fields.
- Choose inspection or copies and state the preferred delivery method on the county form.
- Submit through the county records route and respond to any lawful request for clarification or cost approval.
The Public Records Coordinator is at P.O. Box 1346, Jamestown, TN 38556, with phone 931-879-3010 and fax 931-879-3012. Under T.C.A. § 10-7-503, prompt access is required when practicable. If it is not practicable, the custodian generally has seven business days to provide access, deny in writing with a basis, or give a written estimate of the time needed. That is not a promise that all records will be produced within seven days.
Fentress TDOC Offender Photographs
TDOC’s FOIL overview says offender information may include a photograph, status, location, offense, sentence details, parole-hearing status, and release information. FOIL covers felony offenders currently or formerly in TDOC custody or supervision. It is not a complete photo source for people who only had a local Fentress County jail booking.
Search by name, TDOC ID, or State ID. Compare the identifier and record details before relying on the image. An inactive status can point to former TDOC status, while parole or probation shows community supervision. The photograph may come from a state intake or update that occurred after the county booking, so it should not be labeled as the Fentress jail mugshot without proof.
The TBI Sex Offender Registry is narrower. It displays photographs and details for people legally required to register. Registry status and address data do not prove a historical Fentress release date, and the registry must not be treated as a general list of released people.
No Fentress Sheriff Photo App
The official sheriff page links no mobile application. A bounded exact-name marketplace check also found no dedicated Fentress County sheriff iOS app. That absence is a local access fact: there is no supported basis to direct someone to an app for Fentress release photos.
MobilePatrol is a generic product, but Fentress participation and its release or photo content were not verified. It should not be presented as an official county channel. MyTN does provide the state felony offender search, yet that is TDOC FOIL data rather than Fentress County booking data. The two systems serve different custodians.
For a recent county booking, use the sheriff record request. For a state offender, use FOIL. If an independent app presents a photo, record the claimed agency and booking date and verify those facts with the originating office before drawing any conclusion.
Note: An app’s missing image can reflect feed scope or delay and cannot establish that an official booking photograph does not exist.
Fentress Mugshot Leads Need Verification
A dated local news report or official law-enforcement release may reproduce an arrest image. It can help identify the arresting agency, case date, or name used at booking. The report still does not replace the release record, and an arrest photograph does not establish a conviction. Search by a person’s name plus the known case date, then corroborate with the sheriff and court.
Independent aggregators may retain a copied booking image after an official roster changes. Their timestamps can reflect a scrape or publication date rather than booking or release. They may omit a dismissal, correction, or later disposition, and they may attach an image to the wrong namesake. For those reasons, commercial mugshot and data-broker sources are described only as a category and are not linked or endorsed.
Tennessee’s T.C.A. § 47-18-2201 et seq. regulates commercial publication of criminal-record information and booking photographs, including removal practices. It does not validate a publisher’s data and does not order the sheriff to erase an official record. Offers that charge for removal should not be treated as the official correction path.
Fentress Expungement Reaches Photo Custodians
Expungement can change access to a Fentress County booking photograph. The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation explains that the process begins with the court in the county of arrest. Eligibility depends on the case and T.C.A. § 40-32-101. Dismissal, nolle prosequi, no true bill, not-guilty, diversion, and qualifying conviction routes do not all follow the same rules or costs.
TBI’s expungement guidance and official expungement order show distribution to the arresting agency, county jail, TDOC, and TBI for each agency’s process. That chain explains why an official booking or release record can later disappear from public access while an independent copy remains online.
For an official error, provide the custodian with the booking number, the corrected identity fact, and the supporting court order. For an expunged matter, start with the Fentress court and confirm distribution to each official agency that holds the record. Do not work around a sealed or expunged record. Juvenile photographs are outside this adult workflow and receive specific protection under T.C.A. § 37-1-155.
Independent publishers have separate legal obligations and processes. No one should promise that a court order will instantly erase all copies from the internet. The sound route is to secure the official order, follow its distribution, and address any remaining publication with case-specific legal advice.
